Road Vehicle - World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) Code

1 SCOPE

This standard specifies the content and structure of the WMI code. The WMI code constitutes the first section of the vehicle identification number (VIN) described in GB 16735.

This standard is applicable to the motor vehicles and their incomplete vehicles, trailers, motorcycles and mopeds.

Other vehicles to be marked with a VIN may use this standard as a reference.

3 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

For the purpose of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB 16735 and the following apply.

3.1

世界制造厂识别代号world manufacturer identifier; WMI

车辆识别代号（ VIN ）的第一部分，用以标识车辆的制造厂。当此代号被指定给某个车辆制造厂时，就能作为该厂的识别标志，世界制造厂识别代号在与车辆识别代号的其余部分一起使用时，足以保证30 年之内在世界范围内制造的所有车辆的车辆识别代号具有唯一性。

3.2

授权机构authorized organization

经国家汽车主管部门授权，承担WMI 分配与管理工作的机构。

4 一般特征要求

4.1 WMI 代号由三位字码组成， WMI 代号中仅应使用下列阿拉伯数字和大写罗马字母：
