高级英语系列一：如果这个句子你看懂了 那么你的语法非常过硬

闲话少说，书归正传。以下是例句：

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

首先强调一点，这句话从语法上来说是100%正确的。在理解这个句子之前，首先我们需要知道buffalo的各类含义。我在之前的文章中提到，真正的词汇不在于你记住多少复杂的词汇（比如sesquipedalian这个单词，以这个单词为例我是“别有用心”的，感兴趣的读者可以去查查这个单词的意思），而在于一个普通的单词，你知道它的多少意思。以这个buffalo为例，它主要有以下几个意思：

1. 名词：意思是“any of several large wild oxen of the family Bovidae”，也就是水牛：

比如《疯狂动物城（Zootopia）》里面的警长就是以非洲的Cape Buffalo为原型设计的：

2. 动词：这时候它又有两个意思。

Basically "Buffalo buffalo" should be treated as a set, namely buffalo(s) from the city of Buffalo (the lovely city where I consider as my second hometown), no matter where this set is in the sentence.

Now that you treat it as a noun phrase, namely"水牛城的水牛", the sentence is then reduced to "水牛城的水牛骚扰的（定语从句）水牛城的水牛威吓水牛城的水牛" .

那么你肯定会问：“两个作为动词的buffalo怎么能肩并肩的存在呢？”，下面是我的解释：

It is because the first one belongs to the attributive clause（定语从句） in the front. It is the second "buffalo" that is the real predicate（谓语） in this sentence. The subject "Buffalo buffalo" has an attributive clause "(that) Buffalo buffalo buffalo", "that" here is omitted.

现在既然头绪理清了，咱们还可以再把这个句子拓展一下：
